From day one, their team brought clarity
On January 7, 2025, our lives were forever changed by the devastating Palisades fire. While our home was fortunate enough to remain standing, it suffered extensive exterior damage, and the interior was heavily infiltrated by smoke, ash, and combustion byproducts. The emotional toll of realizing that our home—our sanctuary—bad been compromised was overwhelming.
Compounding this trauma, we were dropped by State Fam, and forced to obtain coverage through the California FAIR Plan at less than half the limits we previously carried. From the outset, our experience with FAIR Plan was deeply distressing. They denied virtually all smoke related damage and initially presented an offer of less than $200,000-an amount largely tied to limited exterior repairs and bearing no resemblance to the true scope of loss or what was actually required to properly restore our home. We quickly realized that navigating this process alone was not only exhausting but nearly impossible.
Fortunately, we were referred by a trusted family friend to Gary and Kevin Johnson of Johnson & Johnson Consulting, who had successfully represented them following prior Malibu fires. Engaging the Johnsons was without question, the single best decision we made during this entire ordeal.
From day one, their team brought clarity, confidence, and relentless advocacy to a process that bad previously fell hopeless. Their attention to detail, mastery of policy language, and deep understanding of wildfire and smoke-related losses were extraordinary. Most importantly, they
never wavered. Through persistence, tenacity, and an unwavering commitment to doing what was right, they dismantled FAIR Plan’s pattern or deny-and-delay and hold them accountable—step by step.
As a direct result of Johnson & Johnson Consulting’s efforts, California FAIR Plan ultimately tendered our full $3,000,000 policy limit—after initially denying substantial portions of the loss. JJC successfully challenged and reversed CFP’s original coverage determination, resulting in
payment for critical scopes CFP had previously denied outright, including interior remediation and other smoke-related restoration work necessary to properly restore the home to it’s pre-loss condition. We are profoundly grateful-not just for the financial outcome, but for the peace of mind and dignity the Johnsons restored during one of the most difficult chapters of our lives. While many families continue to struggle against the same unfair practices we were fortunate to have advocates who refused to back down.
We cannot say enough good things about Gary, Kevin, and Chris Johnson. Their professionalism, integrity, and tireless advocacy set them apart in every possible way. We sincerely nope we never face another loss of this magnitude, but if we ever do, we would not hesitate for a moment to place our trust in the Johnson family again. They earned every penny of their fee—and then some.
